Holding “SBU-Coal”: 2012 – Year of Discoveries
Abstract
In 2012 holding company “SBU-Coal” (an industrial division of holding “Siberian Business Union” continued its sustained development while firmly keeping its positions in Russia’s coal industry and being in the third position in terms of production capacity. On December 25 2012 Kuzbass produced 200 million tons of coal for the first time in the history of the region. The miners of “Chernigovsky” open-pit mine had the honor to hold a record on a scale of the whole Kuzbass. In 2012 the Kuzbass coal miners produced 201,5 m tpy of coal with the companies of JSC HC “SBU-Coal” accounting for 11.6%. In 2013 the company is planning to increase the production by 12% up to 26,7 million tons. The article provides the performance of “SBU-Coal” in 2012 and its plans for 2013.

Belon Company: Keeps Moving Straight on!
Abstract
In order to understand which way you should take to move on you should look at the existing experience. 2012 gave Belon’s team some lessons of survival in harsh financial and economic conditions to remind them of what a crisis is like. However owing to a competent business strategy they were able to safeguard all the lines of activities and try to start 2013 with minimum losses. Director General of JSC “Belon” spoke in more detail about the company’s performance last year and plans for this year in his interview.

Record Procession of Belon’s Drift Miners
Abstract
In 2012 the preparatory teams of Belon’s mines made 24566 m of mine tunnels. This was a record-breaking figure throughout the operation of the company. The increase accounted 8% (+ 1771 m) as against the previous year. If we take the data in 2009 to 2010 when the tunneling rate was in the region of 17 km per year we’ll see that the increase for this kind of work accounts for over 40%. The article states the performances of Belon tunneling, advances made and tasks for this year.

Abstract

“Yuzhnaya” Coal Company: with the Eye to the Future
Abstract
The article is focused on the biggest coal company of Russian Eastern Donets region – “Yuzhnaya” coal company Ltd which has reconfirmed its leading position on the basis of its performance in 2012. The “Sadkinskaya” mine, which is the main coal production facility of the company, repeatedly surpassed the annual two-million coal production level in 2012 having produced 2 million 277 thousand tons of anthracite. The strategic course of “Yuzhnaya” coal company is to keep this annual coal production volume at the “Sadkinskaya” mine and increase by constructing new mines. But it isn’t easy to pursue this course in conditions of altered opportunities in the coal market and there being no protection for a domestic consumption against foreign expansion of low-grade coals and a variety of administrative barriers which have to be surmounted – all these things are discussed in more detail in the article.

Abstract
The article highlights the summary of public services provided by FSBI “SOTSUGOL” in the field of a comprehensive social protection in 2012 and over 15 years of existence of this institution. A provision of a free (allowance) coal for domestic needs to former employees of the industry in accordance with applicable laws is an essential element in the sphere of social protection. Another major element of social protection and provision of public services by FSBI “SOTSUGOL” is an additional provision of pensions for the employees of the industry who have title to retire (non-governmental pensions). The process of migration of former employees of the industry from the Extreme North regions and similar places rank high in the list of socially-oriented conversion program objectives.

The Experience of Designing Eastern Donets Basin Coal Mine Transport
Abstract
The article sets forth individual advanced designing solutions for underground transport systems, shows the necessity of taking into account the mutual influence of mining technology issues and transport, pays attention to not adequately taken in account of basic geological and mining data and parameters of extraction machine in a breakage face which predetermine the inconsistency between calculated characteristics of maximum traffic and actually possible ones. Also provided are typical errors made in designing underground transport and implementing designing solutions in practice as well as main lines aimed at preventing the above inconsistencies and errors.

Russian Coal Terminal at Latvian Port Ventspils - a Safe Point
of Energy Supply for Foreign Countries
Abstract
In October 2008 a special closed-type close transshipment terminal JSC “BALTIC COAL TERMINAL” which is unique across the Baltic republics both in terms of investment and technological solutions used for coal transshipment was commissioned in the deep-water nonfreezing port of Ventspils. The first phase alone where the cutting edge solutions and state–of-the-art machines were used saw the investment of over 78 million euros. The second coal terminal phase is expected to be completed by 2014 which will allow its capacity to be increased by 1.7 times, the capabilities of the company to be considerably extended and eventually make the company renowned as the most reliable and biggest stevedore company on the Baltic coast.
