Abstract

Increasing alterability in the environment of mining operations and rising complexity of mining conditions at solid mineral deposits define the change in approaches and requirements towards the design and survey work. This creates a contradiction where, on the one hand, it is necessary to conduct serious pre-project studies, detail the company's development strategy and search for innovative solutions to ensure the effective development of the deposit, while on the other hand, mining of the deposit needs to be started in the shortest possible time in order to minimize the payback period and ensure its investment attractiveness. This contradiction is resolved by balancing the conceptual design with the depth of design to identify options and optimize them at different design stages within a unified concept taking into account the future conditions and requirements. In order to mitigate the risks during the first design phase, only the most robust and well-founded solutions that are not in conflict with the conceptual ones are considered. The technically complex integrated solutions are adopted in the second to third design phases, when the field experience and the necessary input data have been accumulated.
