Abstract
Sanctions shocks, the “green” agenda in the EU, the natural resource and the export potential of the Russian coal industry, as well as the growing needs of the Chinese economy had a stimulating effect on the dynamics of Russian coal exports to China in 2014-2023. The general slowdown in China’s economic growth and crisis phenomena in the steel industry, Russia’s logistical problems, competitive, including price, pressure, as well as the actualization of the “green” agenda in China had a negative effect. China’s increasing CO2 emissions, directly related to the leading position of coal in the country’s energy balance and the development of its steel industry, serves as a factor in the gradual transformation of the economy and the industry in the long term in the context of the development of alternative energy and the greening of the Chinese steel industry. The dynamics and needs of the industry in coal are also determined by the prospects for growth in domestic demand and exports of the industry’s products. The possibilities of increasing Russian coal exports to China are also associated with the optimization of its coal logistics, flexible and competitive pricing, which is complicated by the rising costs of the Russian suppliers.
