Abstract

The paper discusses an approach to improving the efficiency of the combustion engine resource utilization for the BelAZ-75306 heavy-duty mine dump trucks based on predicting the limit state of the combustion engine using the results of oil analysis for the presence of metal particles. A criterion, which is defined by the ratio of the actual internal combustion engine service life to its maximum value for similar engines, achieved in comparable operating conditions, is proposed to assess the efficiency of the internal combustion engine resource utilization. The results of assessing the efficiency of engine resource utilization before and after the engine overhauls are presented for the conditions of the Chernogorsky strip mine. Indicators reflecting the effects of conditions and operating modes of the dump trucks on the resource utilization efficiency of the internal combustion engine are proposed, i.e. the rate of iron particles accumulation in the waste engine oil and the specific consumption of diesel fuel. A dependence is revealed between the resource utilization efficiency of the internal combustion engine and the haul road quality and qualification of the dump truck drivers, which reflect, respectively, the conditions and operating mode of these machines. Indicators are presented that characterize the quality of the haul roads and qualification of dump truck drivers, improvement of which helps to increase the efficiency of the internal combustion engine resource utilization and reduce the consumption of diesel fuel.
