Abstract
Synclinal coal deposits that are characterized with two or three commercial seams are developed in the Krasnoyarsk Territory using the open-pit mining methods. In many fields open-pit mining operations during the wall cutback are performed at the synclinal turn with further coal mining along the seam rise. Mining of coal seams along the rise should be preceded by studies of the mode of open-pit mining operations with due account of changes in the physical and mechanical properties of rocks within the open-pit field boundaries. This helps to reduce the probability of the pit wall deformation based on the justification of advanced stripping at the upper benches of the open pit.
