Abstract

The article deals with the urgent problem of providing energy needs in the conditions of depletion of traditional fuel reserves and growing environmental requirements. The use of water-coal fuel (WCF) as an alternative energy source is proposed. It is shown that preliminary thermal treatment of coal improves its energy characteristics by reducing the content of moisture and volatile substances. It is determined that mechanochemical activation in the disintegrator and cavitator plays an important role in increasing the reactivity and stability of WCF, allowing to avoid the use of plasticisers. Experimental work on the production of WCF from Irsha-Borodino brown coal was carried out as part of the study. It was found that the use of cyclone thermoreactor for thermal treatment leads to a significant decrease in moisture content and increase in the heat of combustion of coal. As a result, WCF with certain characteristics, including carbon content, hydrogen content, moisture content and lower heat of combustion were obtained.
