Abstract
The article deals with the problems of reducing technical and economic performance of coal mining enterprises in the changing energy market and tightening environmental requirements. The aim of the study is to analyse the existing problems and develop proposals to diversify the activities of low-profit coal mining enterprises by introducing complex integrated production facilities for coal mining and deep processing. The methodology includes the analysis of literature sources, best practices in Russia and abroad, as well as technical and economic indicators of coal mining enterprises and coal processing equipment. The results of the study show the necessity of transition from narrow specialisation on the extraction of thermal coal to a wider range of products with high added value, such as synthesis gas, liquid fuels, coal briquettes and humates.
