Abstract

The presented article is devoted to the analysis of the current state of the coal industry of the Russian Federation in the period from 2016 to 2024. The purpose of the study is to assess the dynamics of coal production volumes, investment in fixed capital and profitability of coal companies, as well as to identify the key risks and threats affecting the economic situation in the industry. The work uses statistical data and information from open sources, including data from the Central Dispatch Office of the Fuel and Energy Complex and reports of enterprises. The interrelationships between production volumes, investments and profitability were analysed, and the impact of export duties, railway tariffs, sanctions and price fluctuations on the world coal market was assessed. The results of the study revealed complex dynamics and lack of direct correlation between investment and production growth, as well as the dependence of profitability on external factors. Conclusions were drawn on the need to optimise investment policy and adapt to changing market conditions.

Keywords
