Abstract

The paper analyses the prospects of using the technology of in-cycle gasification for the efficient use of B2 lignite in combined cycle gas turbine plants. It is shown that gasification of B2 coal is a promising direction allowing to use low-grade fuel efficiently and reduce dependence on more expensive fuels. The main stages of the work are defined, including computational studies of the process of gasification of B2 coal and modelling of the gas path of a combined cycle gas turbine when using synthesis gas obtained from this coal. It is proposed to use the Dobrokhotov method for calculation of the gasification process. It is established that at optimum ratio of gasifying agents (steam/oxygen) the generator gas obtained from B2 coal has an average calorific value of about 9.11 MJ/m3. It is shown that the use of synthesis gas from B2 coal in a gas turbine plant leads to a 2% increase in power generation efficiency. The results demonstrating the potential for increasing the energy efficiency of coal-fired power plants are presented.
