Abstract

The article discusses the process of obtaining coal pitch by atmospheric vacuum distillation of coal tar. Coal tar obtained during coking of Kuzbass coals was used as the starting material. The resin distillation process was carried out at different final temperatures of the cubic residue. For the obtained coal pitch samples, the standard characteristics of the pitches were studied: softening temperature, yield of volatile substances, ash content, and the amount of substances insoluble in quinoline and toluene. Based on the obtained research results, conclusions are drawn about the influence of the temperature of atmospheric vacuum distillation of resin on the quality of the resulting coal pitch.
