Abstract
The article analyzes the common features and peculiarities of the environmental legislation of Russia and Germany, which regulates the issues of ensuring the environmental safety of exploration, exploitation of deposits of such types of minerals as coal, oil, gas. An assessment is given of the state of legal regulation of exploration, production of these types of energy resources in terms of compliance with environmental legislation, the role of environmental law in the development of the mining sector of the economy in both countries. The main problems associated with the environmental and legal support of subsoil use and possible directions for improving the legislation on ensuring the environmental safety of subsoil use in Russia are identified.
